Summertime Blues

Friday thoughts

Managerial merry go round continues – Brendan Rodgers in at Liverpool, Chris Hughton at Norwich, Paul Lambert at Villa, Michael Laudrop at Swansea, Harry out at Spurs.Mancini stable at City!

Fixtures are out, don’t look too bad for the Champions.

England through to the quarter finals v Italy who we don’t have a good record against, and I’d have preferred Spain. Joe Hart coming over well on the telly, how will he do against Mario? Spike’s doing day trips we understand. Nothing much on the transfer front, Rags have signed a Japanese player to boost shirt sales over there – how does this conform to FFP?

Pic in the manumirror of ‘winners’ Smalling and company holding up the Euro Cup no, Europa league Cup no, League title no, FA Cup no, League cup no, Community Shield yes! No wonder….!

The Boss is on at The Etihad tonight. Last time I saw him was at the Nymex after driving back from Bristol and the 2-2 draw with Rovers when we were in the third tier. Wow!

Rags are thinking of doing a fanzone similar to the City square – wow what a forward thinking club, have they ever done anything original in their sordid history? Yes – hooliganism and commercial exploitation.

What else? Spotted a few more books on the bandwagon after the title win. People are asking for the post champions KK number 198, and whilst we feel a little guilty being as these books are now out so quickly, sorry to inform that due to euphoria, exhaustion, holidays and lack of games to sell it at, it won’t be available until mid or late July. Stuff is coming in fast and furiously so the earlier we receive contributions the better. Incidentally there’s a testimonial at Bristol City end of July City sending an old boys team and they’re hoping for plenty of Blues with flags and stuff attending.

That’s it for now folks. Check out ‘The Dictator’ film - utter genius, and ‘The rise and fall of Little Voice’ at the Octagon Bolton is a stunning production if you’re into that sort of thing.. Meanwhile c’mon England and the Blue boys in the Euros

  1. When the Champions KOTK arrives, it will still be the publication that will matter with regard to coverage of winning the title. There have, like Dave says, been a plethora of City related souvenirs to extract our dosh. For me, it's been the City official mag which seemed to be everywhere by Wednesday, and a couple of 2012 Champions range T-Shirts. I do like the black one with the season's results on the back (united results in different colour).
I have also picked up (from those book club people), David Conn's fascinating "Richer Than God" which is well worth reading.
It may be stating the bleeding obvious, but winning the title meant we finished above united for the first time since the Peter Reid days. Just thought I'd mention it!
